We had two main reasons to select Zonnemarkt over other companies. They could install upon our carport and they used the SunPower panels. They checked multiple times to ensure they could install and we were anxiously awaiting the delivery (6 weeks estimate), in week 6 they told us that installing on the carport was not possible after all and we got an alternative plan.
Not wanting to wait again for another company we decided to move forward and have them install this anyway according to the changed plan with a lower yield. They started, a nice team of three professionals, but at the end of the day they told us planning must have made a mistake, it could never be done in a day. The wind and rain also picked up, they had to reschedule to finish it. Great… you’d say, finish tomorrow, the scaffold was already in place. But no, this company does not account for any delay in the planning. They would continue 4 weeks later.
Now you can’t blame them for the weather in the Netherlands, cause after 4 weeks they had to postpone again due to bad weather, exceeding the original 6 weeks estimate to finish by far.
By the time it was installed we were informed that the great SunPower panels we were led to believe that we had are not as great at all. The great SunPower panels that win about all the reviews are the Maxeon panels. Zonnemarkt probably wants to lift on that name, but is using the Chinese budget P version of them. Quoting this from (SunPower Solar Panels Review - GI Energy):
---------------
However, they do make two very different types of panels: The Maxeon, and the P Series. The Maxeon is what a lot of people would call the “real” SunPower panel. The P Series is the one made in China, and was introduced to increase volume significantly by giving consumers a cheaper alternative to the traditional SunPower panel. And it worked! SunPower increased volume by 80% after introducing this panel.
The downside here is that some solar retailers and installers are just pitching SunPower panels and not mentioning the fact they are actually installing the P Series. So, customers who are not well informed, just think they are getting SunPower…they don’t know they are getting the Chinese P Series. The P Series still performs well but from our own testing it is closer to the mainstream cheaper Chinese manufacturers, than it is to the better quality Maxeons. And, although cheaper than the Maxeon, they are still more expensive than most competitors.

But well, everything is installed, after cleaning up a bit we found the floor was damaged near the wall where they placed the SolarEgde. Something probably happened there, cause the wall itself was damaged as well, but that could easily be fixed, the floor tiles we were a bit sad about. They also crashed a roof tile, but that you can expect, I don’t mind buying a new one of those. We asked how they would resolve this, they also made pictures and indicated damage at the work-sheet, but we never heard back about this.
I’ve asked them multiple times if “not responding to damage reports or complaints” would be the way they handle this, gave them multiple reminders to get back to us on this on several e-mail addresses but never got any reaction so there is your answer.
But hey…, our solar factory is making money and we could check it all with the app! Whoops… for a moment that was, because after a day it did not work anymore. They did send a mechanic by within days, must say he’s a great guy.
The SolarEdge WIFI module already died. They fixed it by drilling another hole (kudos for the mechanic, it was a difficult hole to drill, took almost an hour) and connecting it by a network cable as a work-around that now works stable (but connecting to WIFI is dead).
So decide for yourself. We gave them 2 stars because the people working here were nice and hard professional workers and the panels look great, the planning is terrible, the handling of complaints is non-existent and they use the budget panels trying to make you believe those are the top of the line.
